Hi Andi fam, hope you’re doing well. 🙂

We ended the API pilot, implemented feedback, reset revenue to ~$0. Spent Q1 building self-service signup/billing, kicked off product-led growth (PLG) strategy. 596 commits across 12 repos and 8 products, CEO writing production code. The pilot proved demand, but direct sales couldn't scale a developer API business. First organic Stripe payments came in March.

December goals: Index 15B+ | Onboard waitlist: in progress (console built) | Pricing from feedback: partial (3-tier defined, tuning) | $10K MRR: missed (deliberate reset) | Bookface: missed, planned for P26 batch in April

Metrics

  • Revenue: $54 in March ($10 Stripe topup + $44 API usage), up from $1 in Feb. Q1 total: ~$55

  • API queries: 3,637 in March (57x MoM from 63 in Feb)

  • Developer accounts: 14 active (up from 6 manual pilots in Dec)

  • Index: 15.7B+ pages (up from 12B+)

  • MAU: 153K (flat +0.003% MoM)

  • Cash: $131 Brex — zero months cash runway at $6,343/mo burn

  • Credits: $927K (Cloud Compute) — 12+ months runway with credits

Asks

  • Intros to developers and startups building AI agents that need search APIs

  • Try signing up at https://console.andiai.com/waitlist and I'll let you in. Feedback on developer experience welcome.

  • Invite friends to try it: Tell them to mention your name for early access.

Highlights

  • Self-service API Console launched at https://console.andiai.com with Stripe billing and 3-tier pricing (Developer / Team / Enterprise)

  • First organic Stripe payments: a $10 credit topup and a $49/mo subscriber, with early margins of ~$25-30 per subscription. First pilot customer converting to enterprise plans

  • Shipped 8 products in Q1: console, API docs (https://docs.andiai.com), rebuilt https://andiai.com, airun (https://airun.me, 135 GitHub stars), YC Advisor (https://yc-advisor.andiai.com), ShipIt (https://github.com/andisearch/shipit), AI writing tools (150+ Bookface downloads), andi-promote (59 posts, 10 campaigns, 90K+ views)

  • PCMag Best Free AI Search Engine, third consecutive year. Tavily acquired for $275M — agentic search is a real market

Lowlights

  • MAU down 40% from Dec — consumer deprioritized for API build

  • Cash: $131 Brex, running on credits

  • 53 waitlist users still to be onboarded. 6 pilot users not yet activated on new console.

Shoutouts

  • YC for constant support and social media amplification. David White and Celesta Hoover for emergency funding that kept us alive. WSGR, Fondo (David Phillips), Pulley for continued patience

  • PostHog ($50K/yr credits + bill forgiven), Cursor ($84K), DigitalOcean ($75K), Massive ($10K), AWS and GCP YC teams. Tim Trumper, Peter Bryant, Nick Chan, and Caleb Peffer (Firecrawl) for strategy advice and testing

Goals for April

  • Activate waitlist onto self-service console

  • $1K MRR from self-service API

  • Launch API on YC Bookface with P26 batch deal

  • Finalize pricing + close first enterprise customer

Built everything running on vapor.
